OUR VISION

With almost 60 years of service and a deeply rooted foundation in East Harlem, the Council is dedicated to rendering care in a culturally proficient, barrier-free, individualized, and family-oriented manner, with an emphasis on prevention through education and the provision of state-of-the-art services. Our vision is that the Council will be recognized as a premier community health center in NYC.

MISSION STATEMENT

“To offer high-quality, comprehensive community-based, fully bilingual health, and human services to the residents of East Harlem, and reflect the socio-cultural fabric of El Barrio.”

OUR VALUES

In 2022 the Council adopted core values which we believe should guide our approach to the work we do and that we hope our community experiences when engaging with us. These values were selected through a staff engagement process to ensure their buy-in. These values are qualities we expect all our team members to engender. The acronym we created to reflect our values is “CATER” which stands for:

  • Communication: Effective communication is critical to success within any organization.
  • Accountability: Holding oneself responsible for their actions as well as our other team members.
  • Teamwork: Working as a team is the only way we will achieve success, with every member of the team contributing.
  • Empathy: We must operate with an understanding of what another person may be experiencing and not be judgmental but recognize their frame of reference.
  • Respect: Having due regard for the feelings, wishes, rights, or traditions of others. Accepting others for who they are even when they are different from us.
We cater to the needs of our community and staff
