Responsible for (a) reviewing and analyzing medical billing and coding for processing and accurately coding encounters for reimbursement, (b) providing education to providers and staff on correct documentation, coding, (c) billing of visits, as well as performing audits of medical claims for compliance with federal coding regulations and (d) Assists in coding accurately all encounters received on any given day into the billing system and bill out those claims in a timely manner guidelines.

  • Evaluates medical record documentation and coding to optimize reimbursement by ensuring that diagnostic and procedural codes, in addition to other documentation, accurately reflect and support the outpatient visit.
  • Reviews Medicaid, Medicare, and other reimbursement claims for completeness and accuracy before submission to minimize claim denials. Ensures that all data complies with legal standards and guidelines.
  • Provides technical guidance to the clinical providers and other departmental staff in identifying and resolving issues or errors, such as incomplete or missing records and documentation, ambiguous or nonspecific documentation, or codes that do not conform to the approved coding principles/guidelines.
  • Interprets medical information, such as diseases or symptoms, in addition to diagnostic descriptions and procedures, to accurately assign and sequence the correct ICD-10-CM and CPT codes.

5. Review denied billing, rebilling, and posting payment for correction.

6. Prepare weekly and monthly billing and AR reports and analysis of AR to identify and collect unpaid accounts.

7. Generate regular reports on denials, unlocked notes, etc., from eCW.

8. Maintains files and logs on all pending, denied, and paid claims as necessary for accurate accounts receivable documentation to follow up.

9. Educate and advise staff on proper code selection, documentation, procedures, and requirements

10. Performs other functions necessary for the proper functioning of the East Harlem Council for Human Services, Inc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred. High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent credential required
  • At least two (2) years of medical coding and billing experience in a healthcare setting.

The Family Physician and HIV Specialist position is based at the Boriken Neighborhood Health Center, a state-of-the-art Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and NCQA-accredited Patient-Centered Medical Home in East Harlem offering comprehensive pediatric and adult primary care, specialty care, and the Boriken Pharmacy. Provides telephone coverage, based on the Health Center’s on-call schedule.

Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive, culturally competent primary care services in an ambulatory care setting. Contribute to quality improvement, supervision of Advanced Practice Practitioners, after-hours call coverage, and other programmatic and clinical functions.

Qualifications: Graduate of approved medical school Completion of approved residency Board Certified or Board Eligible required New York State Medical License DEA registration Bilingual Spanish preferred Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of principles and practices of Family Medicine Demonstrated ability to plan and conduct comprehensive treatment plans Expressed commitment to work in partnership with colleagues and to guide staff to deliver a high quality of care to health center patients. COVID vaccine required. Must have Active NYS Medicaid/Medicare Provider #.

We are willing to consider FM providers that are not HIV Certified but are willing to commit to seeing HIV patients and becoming certified over a designated period of time.

Schedule: Full time (35 hours per week)

The Medical Director position is based at the Boriken Neighborhood Health Center, a state-of-the-art Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and NCQA-accredited Patient-Centered Medical Home in East Harlem offering comprehensive pediatric and adult primary care, specialty care, and the Boriken Pharmacy.

Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer of the East Harlem Council for Human Services, Inc. (EHCHS), the Medical Director assists in overseeing all clinical activities of the Boriken Neighborhood Health Center and all programs of the EHCHS.

Qualifications: Graduate of approved medical school Completion of approved residency Board Certified required New York State Medical License DEA registration ACLS / BLS certificate Infection control certificate

Experience as an outpatient practitioner required. Medical Director or Associate Medical Director experience optional. Bilingual Spanish preferred. Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of principles and practices of medicine. Familiarity with Federally Qualified Health Centers preferred. Knowledge of Patient Centered Medical Home principles preferred. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with teams. Excellent interpersonal and managerial skills. Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.

Must have Active NYS Medicaid/Medicare Provider #.

Schedule: Full time, typically 1 Saturday every six weeks is required with a flexible work schedule for that week
